About me

Hello! I am Isabel Valdés, a Mexico City based surface designer creating playful, color filled patterns for stationery, fashion, and everyday objects. My work is rooted in a love for soft color palettes, whimsical details, and designs that feel light, joyful, charming and full of character.

My creative path began in fashion design, where I developed an appreciation for textiles and how design interacts with the body. Over time, I found myself drawn more to illustration and the small, expressive worlds that can exist within a pattern. That shift led me to focus on surface design, where I could combine storytelling, color, and repetition into something both functional and imaginative.

Much of my work is inspired by simple, happy moments, nature, nostalgia, and a sense of everyday magic. I’m drawn to creating art for paper goods and stationery, influenced by a long standing love for scrapbooking and handmade crafts. I also enjoy designing for children’s clothing and accessories, where color and playfulness can really come to life.

When I’m not designing, you’ll likely find me knitting, spending time with my two cats or tending to my farm in Stardew Valley. These quiet, comforting moments often find their way back into my work, shaping the gentle and curious world my patterns live in.

I’m currently open to licensing opportunities, commissions, and creative collaborations.
